CAMERA SET-UP

Setting up a camera / tripod

Step One:

Fully extend the legs of your tripod stand while the legs are still together to make sure they are all the same height. Unclip and clip the fasteners to the necessary length and adjust if needed.

Step Two:

Twist the screw under the 'head' of the tripod to loosen the platform. When it is flat, screw this tightly again.

Step Three:

Unclip the base plate from the head of the tripod. Get out your camera - make sure it had an SD card inside! Turn your camera upside down and attach the base plate into the bottom and screw it in place by hand.

Step Four:

Attach the camera onto the tripod by connecting the base plate back on the tripod where it was originally. Make sure your camera is facing your subject and be sure to lock the position in place, so it doesn't fall.

Step Five:

Turn the camera on - after removing the lens cap obviously. Make sure your camera is on all the right settings and start shooting!

Types of Cameras

Bracknell and Wokingham College offer two brands of cameras - Nikon or Canon - and it is safe to say there's a difference between the two.

Similarities

Differences

Although they are competing brands, Nikon and Canon cameras are actually quite similar. The picture quality is all the same for both brands and neither one is superior in capturing a good photo.

The most noticeable difference between Nikon and Canon cameras is the lens. A canon camera lens automatically opens so it's ready to shoot as soon as it's switched on however a Nikon camera lens has to be twisted to open properly. This can be seen as both a pro and a con. It's a con because it's obviously a lot of hassle to open the camera and takes extra time to set up. On the other hand, it can be seen as a pro as it keeps the lens safer and therefore less accidents are likely to happen when the lens is twisted off when you aren't using it.
